Prof. Mordechai Shani – Medical Center Governor

Resident Professor of Health Systems and Associate Professor of Internal Medicine at Tel Aviv University. For 33 years, he managed the Sheba Medical Center and twice served as CEO of the Ministry of Health. Prof. Shani is one of the initiators of the Health Insurance Law and the Patient’s Rights Law.

In 2005 he founded the School of Public Health at Tel Aviv University and headed the school until 2009. In that year he also received the Israel Lifetime Achievement Award for his major contribution to the development of medicine in Israel and health management in the State of Israel.

He founded the Gartner Institute for Epidemiology and Health Policy Research in 1991, and headed it until 2009.
